Health Benefits of Almonds

Almonds are our favourite type of nut. It is a delicious and nutritious one. That’s why we have decided to share with you the health benefits of almonds and why it’s the number one superfood on the planet.

  1. They are really Nutritious
Almonds are rich in healthy fats, they contain important nutrients like magnesium, Vitamin E and B vitamins. They are mainly a monounsaturated fat and therefore beneficial to your health. Monounsaturated fats can help protect against metabolic syndromes and help your body use fat appropriately.
  2. Full of Antioxidants
Also, Almonds contain a number of antioxidants including one that makes our skin glow. What is all of this talk about vitamin E? Vitamin E is an antioxidant, it aids in reducing the rate at which cell-damaging processes occur. Also, vitamin E dissolves in fat and is required for the proper functioning of many of our body’s organs. A study showed that: “eating almonds can significantly boost levels of vitamin E in the diet and bloodstream”.

  2. Low in Calories and Great for your Heart
Almo is lower in calories than animal milk. Because it is not an animal product, it has no cholesterol. Arguably, high levels of cholesterol could increase your risk of heart disease by harming your arteries. We only fortify Almo milk the good stuff, it is fortified with Calcium, at Almo, we look out for your health. Remember, not all almond milk is created equal!
  3. Fortified in Calcium
Almo is one of the few long life almond milks that is fortified with calcium to help support those that do not consume dairy or foods with high sources of calcium. Every glass of Almo is a quarter of your daily calcium needs and supports bone health.
  4. Low GI and Suitable for Diabetics
Almo doesn’t contain any added sugars, rice syrups or dates meaning it has a low glycemic index and is suitable for diabetics. So, always double check the back nutritional panel. Some companies add sugars even when the packaging reads: no added cane sugar.
  5. Cleaner Almonds- Pesticide and Propylene Oxide (PPO) Gas Free
Almond milk is becoming more and more popular, but some brands use almonds treated with PPO Gas. Conventionally, almond growers used PPO to pasteurize their almonds. PPO is banned in several countries. PPO presents health risks to almond growers and almond milk consumers.

At Almo, we use Australian sourced almonds from the Australian Almond Co-op and locally grown almonds that are not fumigated with PPO Gas and are pesticide-free.

So… How can you tell if someone drinks Almo? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you… and they should because Almo Milk is so good for you!
